When I was four and five years old, we’d go and stay with my Grandma and Grandad in the Lancashire mill town where my Mum was born. Every summer, my Grandad took me to the book shop on the High Street to choose some new books and then to the sweet shop, where I’d fill a striped paper bag with Pick and Mix.
The pleasure of words and the pleasure of choosing from all those chocolates in their coloured foil and shiny cellophane are forever mixed up in my mind.
So many to choose from!
I thought it would be fun to create something similar for you - a Pick and Mix to help you in your writing and journaling.
Why?
Because sometimes we don’t want to have to choose and we don’t know where to start.
Because sometimes we can take ourselves too seriously, don’t you think?
Because playing with words on a page can be something to savour, like the sound of crinkly cellophane or the taste of chocolate dissolving on your tongue.
So here are 100 writing prompts for you to have fun with. Pick one at random and, if you don’t like it, just pick another. And another. Repeat as required.
Find out what happens - and let me know what you think!
